Elmedina Imamović - @ ei_atelier
With over three years of independent experience, and 10 years of different activities in the field of architecture as a student, I have been consistently redefining the boundaries between architecture and art. I hold a baccalaureate degree in Architectural Constructions and a master’s degree from the Faculty of Architecture, University of Sarajevo. My master’s thesis explored the relationship between human spirituality and architecture, culminating in the design of a monastery that served as a sacral, public, and multi-functional space with diverse uses and purposes. This project was praised for its innovative approach and depth. Early in my career, I gained international experience working at a renowned architectural bureau in Vienna. Additionally, my academic papers were accepted by the Technical University of Vienna. However, I chose to return to Sarajevo to contribute to the regional architectural scene, and my time in Vienna helped broaden my professional perspective and refine my skills.

Throughout my career, I have worked not only in Sarajevo and Bosnia and Herzegovina but also in Zagreb, Croatia, Munich, Germany, and other international locations. My goal is to expand my work to include other countries in the region as well as European nations, contributing to a broader architectural dialogue. During my studies, I participated in various competitions and workshops, including ones in Stuttgart and Sarajevo. My work extends beyond traditional architectural practice. I engage in art, product design, furniture design, and urban planning, approaching projects from both engineering and artistic perspectives. I see art and architecture as existing in symbiosis, shaping how people interact with their environments.
My expertise focuses on interior and exterior design, including spaces with diverse functions such as offices, living spaces, and specialized areas. I also work on designs for buildings, urban public spaces, and preservation projects. I am equally dedicated to the logistical and organizational aspects of projects, ensuring seamless realization from concept to completion. As an artist, I have explored painting, video art, digital art, and graphic design. My work has been featured in several group exhibitions, and my solo exhibition showcased over 40 canvases blending traditional and digital elements. This fusion defines my “total design” philosophy, where spaces are transformed through integrated art and architecture. I have participated in over ten architectural competitions, gaining recognition for my innovative and conceptual designs. I believe an architect must be a complete persona, engaging with diverse cultural and interdisciplinary fields to create meaningful designs. Active in Sarajevo’s cultural scene, I strive to contribute to my community by shaping spaces that inspire. With strong leadership, strategic thinking, and a vision for the future, I aim to leave a lasting impact on both local and international stages.
