Ekibaria Vase is an art piece inspired by Ekibaria, a gypsy girl I know. I portrayed her symbolically as a vase, imagining it as a stainless steel form reflecting a blue surrounding with light yellow highlights. The painting is done on a long, narrow vertical canvas, and its proportions naturally guided the composition. The main element is the vase, which stands as the focal point, while the secondary layers feature patterns arranged as a grid combined with alphabet elements, including Ekibaria’s name. I used a wet-on-wet technique to create a sense of transparency in the space, contrasting with the vase’s weight and solidity. The result is a piece that balances structure and fluidity, capturing both the symbolic presence of the subject and the material essence of the vase.
