HATA

This art piece is inspired by my grandmother, Hata, her birthplace, and the morning prayer I imagine she had on her way to the local mosque. The composition is chaotic yet deeply expressive, with a dynamic interplay of colors, layers, and surfaces. The painting is created using mixed techniques and media, including acrylic paint and markers, applied through bold brushstrokes, intricate patterns, and pictorial elements. The process involves wet-on-wet techniques, acrylic layering, and heavy top layers, reflecting the weight of transition between night and day—capturing the early morning just before sunrise.

The piece is rich in symbolism. Small dots scattered throughout represent blueberries, a nod to the mountain near her village, which is abundant with them. Architectural elements reflect my imagined interpretation of the local mosque, blending memory with artistic abstraction. Alphabet elements further connect and unify the composition, reinforcing the narrative of place, time, and personal history.
