This painting captures the final, heartbreaking moment of Ibro Morić, one of the two innocent Morić brothers, as described in a well-known Sarajevo poem. Taken by the law, handcuffed, and led to their execution at a nearby Ottoman-era fortress, the brothers faced their tragic fate. In his last moments, Ibro turned back to look at Sarajevo one final time, speaking words of love to the city where he was born and lived. This artwork preserves that farewell—an emotional tribute to innocence, loss, and the deep connection between a person and their homeland.
